Yoga Studios, Guided Relaxations, and Mustaches: AlchemYoga Year in Review

Posted by on Jan 11, 2013

It’s January 2013 and the air feels electric with potential and opportunity. Surya Namaskara never felt so good! Let me show you how we got here.

I have been having a blast working with Matt and Ashley developing AlchemYoga, but it hasn’t been without it’s challenges. We first started shooting our first blog videos at a local public access station in Sacramento, CA.

Matt and I prepping one of our first blog video shoots at the station.

Ashley would write out her script on a large white board that was placed just off camera.

Ashley preparing for an intense video session under the heat of the lights. We couldn’t have the AC running while recording audio, so it would get hot like a Bikram class.

We enjoyed shooting at the television studio because of the convenience of lighting and space, but unfortunately they had to move their headquarters shortly after we had begun shooting there.  We put our heads together and Ashley decided that we could use a spare room in her house to shoot. It was time to get to work!

Matt found the perfect rug for the room that soon would be transformed into our new studio.

Out shopping for the new studio. As you can tell we are all business at AlchemYoga 😉

We found this 3 piece shelf set at Target that helps to break up one of the empty walls.

Meanwhile,  as we continued looking for items that would make Ashley’s spare room look like a proper yoga studio, we decided  to start working on our first product for the website. A series of 10 guided relaxations!

Here we are recording Tibetan Crystal bowls to be used as a background track for the guided relaxations.

Here is our DIY sound recording studio complete with script easel, blankets hanging from the ceiling to dampen the sound, and a $5 pop filter made with an embroidery hoop and pantyhose! I am especially proud of this setup 🙂

We were proud to finish our first product, and we think you will enjoy it too. It will be available at the AlchemYoga store coming soon!

That brings us to January, where  now we are putting the finishing touches on the new studio in preparation for shooting our next product! A beginner yoga video series!

The new studio!

As you can see we have a few more things to do like putting up curtains and frosting the windows, but we are almost there. We can’t wait to get back to shooting again!

The kids are enjoying the new studio just as much as we are!

And finally one more picture of the AlchemYoga team together at Matt’s birthday party!

We couldn’t help but celebrate Matt’s amazing mustache!

Happy New Year from Matt, Ashley, and I!

Namaste
